⇨A Dinner Gathering i'm very happy today. went out with mum after lunch. we went to lavendar, then bugis. i love going out with her :) i had to ask her to go home alone in the evening as i had an appointment with my colleagues. i know i can't be selfish towards my colleagues for not attending just bcos i wanna go home with mum. first of all, it isn't nice for me to use any reason for rejecting the dinner. secondly, it isn't right for any excuse to come in if i'd promised them in the beginning. ( i felt so bad for allowing my mum to travel home alone cause when i reached home, she told me she had motion-sickness. the aircon was down and my mum's not used to the packed train at peak hr therefore she felt unwell. but anyway, that was not an issue.) it was a gathering with sdc colleagues. dinner was at dobhy's sakura, organized by uncle herbert. sincerely appreciate his effort and i think its worth mentioning his name here though he might not be reading this. what surprises me was that those colleagues who seldom turned up at any dinner with us in the past, was there. uncle herbert's initial plan was to have a farewell dinner for andrew - my ex executive from sdc, who'd left during end of march. however, 4 others resigned subsequently thereafter and that includes me. today's event, although seems like a farewell dinner to many others, was not deemed likewise to me. i felt it was more like a gathering in which i believe there are many more to come in the near future. now, what makes me most heartwrecked at this moment is the fact that none of those whom i celebrated their farewell with, came. NONE. i don't expect any means of reciprocal - (nevermind if no one understands that), what affects me the most is the value of friendship in which they treasure. (do they?) i've seen many resignees throughout the period of service with sdc, many of whom used to be my closests at work. apart from work, there were the happier times where we enjoyed so many activities - partying, bowling, ktv-ing, shopping, movies, prawning, beach-ing and even chalet. perhaps now its time to wake up the idea that in reality, this kind of happiness won't last. yes, its just short-lived. here's where i can truely differentiate between a friend and an acquaintance. pics uploaded by colleagues.
