is a coinbank founded by SPH in early Aug this year.

better known as ST - the school pocket money fund, SPH aims to help the needy kids, providing financial support for these children, that's where the vocabs 'school' and 'pocket money' derived from. this coinbank was on sale islandwide at a cost of $5 in all ntuc supermarkets and the revenue goes to charity as 'pocket money' for the young & deprived ones.

as a staff from SPH, i get the coinbank for free. we can opt to donate the money collected in the coinbank or for use at home as personal savings.

in collaboration with Children's Day tomorrow, SPH collected all funds today. staff were encouraged to make a donation during lunch hour, it could be an out-of-their-wallets contributions, OR out-of-their-coinbanks donations which they have saved up over these 2 months. the children really need everyone's assistance. i put in a small sum on my part as well.

i helped out at the reception during lunch time (12-2pm), together with colleagues from my department as well as from our hq, news centre. oh ya, an auditor was present as well!

the donations was rather overwhelming initially but declined by 1pm. here's a pic of the donation box (excluding coins) at that time.
at the end of the session, after the auditor did a closing account on these cash, my colleagues and i went back to the office and resumed our work.

guessed what?! i was given some gifts as a token of appreciation for my little effort at the help-out. my colleagues commented that i received these "souvenirs" just in time for my departure from SPH (due next friday). well, very memorable indeed.

i shall conclude that today had been a wonderful day. i'm grateful to have this chance to assist at such eventful activity, though it is my last at SPH. (:
